With 2 locations serving Central & Southwest Virginia, our family-owned and operated stores have a friendly & expert sales staff ready to meet your outdoor needs.

Both locations have friendly sales associates who are experienced in outdoor sports and knowledgeable about all of our products. When you visit our stores, don't hesitate to ask for help. Our sales staff wants to help you find just what you need to make your next outdoor excursion one to remember!

Located near the James and Maury rivers, our Lynchburg location offers a wide assortment of hiking, backpacking, camping, and paddling items. You'll find just what you need to get out and enjoy the water, including a great selection of life jackets, paddles, and other water sports accessories! 

Our Daleville location specializes in clothing and equipment for backpacking and hiking. With its regular stream of thru-hikers, our Daleville location has the equipment and expertise to the meet the needs of anyone hiking the Appalachian Trail. We have a great assortment of packs, sleeping bags, footwear, and outerwear to outfit you completely for any hiking or backpacking trip. 

Our mission is to help people get outside and enjoy all of the outdoor recreation our region, state,  country,  and world has to offer.  We hope to educate and 

inspire our customers.

Meet John and Andrea, our owners.  John is an Eagle Scout who is also an avid outdoorsman.  Growing up in Pennsylvania, John developed a love of the outdoors as a young child.  He joined the BSA as a Cub Scout which only fueled his passion for hiking, backpacking, camping, paddling, and climbing.  

 In 1994, John's parents came up with the idea to open an outdoor store to help better service our local community and BSA program.  From there Outdoor Trails was formed and on October 21, 1995, our doors opened in Lynchburg.   In 2001 our Daleville location opened.  

John and Andrea met in 1985 and became instant friends.  Andrea also shares in John's love of the outdoors.  Growing up in Ohio, she grew to love nature through playing sports, bike riding, and hiking. John and Andrea enjoy hiking, camping, and paddling together. They also share a love of live music, adventure travel and their beloved fur babies. This is a perfect partnership in both love and business.
